This month, a team of 11 volunteers from Reward Gateway | Edenred dedicated their time to supporting The Felix Project at their depot in Poplar, London.
The Felix Project is a charity committed to rescuing surplus food from the food industry that would otherwise go to waste. They deliver this food to a network of food banks, charities, primary schools, and holiday programs across London.
Our volunteers were divided into two groups, each focusing on different aspects of the operation:
The Warehouse
The warehouse team was responsible for picking and packing deliveries of rescued food. Their tasks included sorting a variety of items—from soap and coffee to bread and vegetables—into pallets and dollies for distribution. The team’s notable achievement was completing all picking slips ahead of schedule, ensuring that all orders for the day were fulfilled promptly.
The Kitchen
In the kitchen, volunteers assisted in assembling and packing nutritious ready-made meals using surplus food. These meals are distributed to community organizations across London, including charities and schools, to provide food relief. The team successfully assembled over 1,300 meals while enjoying a lively atmosphere, thanks to an energetic playlist that kept spirits high throughout the process.
“We really appreciate and will continue to need the wide range of help our corporate sponsors offer. Not just volunteers to feed people but the wide range of business support services each offers alongside funding.”
Charlotte Hill, CEO The Felix Project
