Edenred donates £5,000 to West Cheshire Foodbank
When two colleagues from Edenred’s Chester office asked if the company would sponsor a local foodbank, Directors jumped at the chance to extend support beyond London.
May Roberts and Alice Pepper regularly arrange office food collections for the West Cheshire Foodbank, an independent (part of the Trussell Trust) charity that provides emergency food to local people in crisis.
May and Alice said, “Due to the cost of living crisis the need for more donations has never been greater. To meet need, staff at the warehouse have to process 20% more donations than they did pre-pandemic.”
Colleagues, Colin Hodgson, Sales Director and Maria Santiago Armanda spent a day with May and Alice at the foodbank. They visited to meet the warehouse volunteer team and presented the foodbank with a cheque for £5,000 to support operations.
Commenting on her experience at the warehouse, Edenred Customer Care Advisor, Maria Santiago Armanda said, “I couldn’t believe the warehouse has a dedicated area for non cook food. These are foods that don’t have to be cooked before eating. Even before the energy crisis some people could not afford to use a microwave or oven to heat food and since the energy crisis requests for non-cook food have soared.”
Edenred is planning a staff volunteer day at the foodbank in April. Please contact May Roberts if you would like to help out.
