Carer Break Vouchers

Carers look after people round the clock. But someone needs to look after the carers too - making sure that they can take a short-term break from their responsibilities without any problems arising. And that’s where Carer Break Vouchers come in.

Carer Break Vouchers are issued by your local authority to carers who they’ve assessed under the Carers Recognition Act 1995. Vouchers can be used as full or part-payment for residential, domiciliary, nursing or any other carer break service offered by approved providers who’ve met local authority requirements.

It might be for a break of a few hours, a few days or maybe even a week. It might be to care for people with physical disabilities, mental health problems, learning disabilities, long term illness or older people.

But whatever the timescale, whatever the circumstances, Carer Break Vouchers are always here for when the carers have to be somewhere else instead.

For more information visit: Directgov or CarersNet, the online Carer Break Voucher service provider directory.

You can find a Carer Break provider by visiting our locator or using Surrey County Council's search.
