During these challenging times, it is important to ensure that pupils eligible for free school meals can continue to access support if they are not in school. If schools cannot provide meals or food parcels through their current food provider, they can provide supermarket or shop vouchers to eligible families. Full guidance is available here.

A national scheme has been setup in partnership with the Department for Education and Edenred UK. Your school can now access an online portal, Compliments Select, to issue supermarket vouchers to those families. A school account has already been created for you, so accessing this service is very simple and you can quickly and easily distribute the food vouchers.

How does it work?

Your school administrator received a welcome email with instructions on how to access the system on Tuesday 31st March or Wednesday 1st April, with a detailed user guide.

Compliments Select enables you to issue an ‘eCode’ by email to eligible families (a 16-digit number with a value attached). Parents or adults with caring responsibilities for the eligible child can then go online to redeem the eCode against a choice of eGift cards (a digital gift card delivered via email) which currently includes the following food retailers:

  • Morrisons
  • Tesco
  • Sainsbury’s
  • Asda
  • Waitrose
  • M&S food
  • Aldi
  • McColl’s (including RS McColl’s and Martin’s)

There are also offline options available for parents or carers without an email address, or access to the internet.
